New York Pay Stub Generator

A New York pay stub is the wage statement supplied with a wage payment. It lets a worker check pay-period dates, earnings, deductions and net wages against the underlying payroll record. Use the New York Department of Labor’s guidance for the information that applies to the worker.

What to organize before you begin

New York requires wage statements with each wage payment. The statement should accurately reflect the employer, employee, dates covered, rates, hours where applicable, gross wages, deductions, allowances, and net wages.

  • Dates covered by the payment
  • Employer and employee identity
  • Rates of pay and basis of pay
  • Hours worked when applicable
  • Gross wages, deductions or allowances, and net wages

Professional paystub template options

Choose a layout that presents payroll information clearly. A template is a formatting aid—not a substitute for accurate source records or state-specific legal review.

New York pay stub questions, answered

Is a statement needed when wages are paid in cash?

Yes. New York DOL says workers must receive a wage statement each time they are paid, including cash payments. Keep the statement tied to the actual payment and pay period.

What can an hourly worker compare against an official example?

New York DOL publishes sample wage statement LS49 for a non-exempt hourly worker. Compare the sample’s earnings, hours, rates and deduction presentation with your records; a sample does not establish every rule for every worker.

What should I do when the total does not reconcile?

Start with the time record and each earnings line. Then compare the deduction total with the amounts actually withheld. Ask payroll to correct an unexplained discrepancy instead of changing a number just to make the document balance.

New York pay stub example

Fictional regular-pay example: 30 hours at $28 equals $840 gross. A separate recorded commission of $120 brings total earnings to $960. With assumed deductions of $185, net pay is $775. Identify the commission separately; this illustration does not determine overtime or tax obligations.

What the generator handles

PayStubExpress offers 18 layouts and editable earnings and deduction fields. Its current interface labels state and local withholding as manual amounts. Enter amounts checked against your payroll records; do not assume selecting a state completes its tax calculations.
